Hastings Chief of Police accepts job in Maplewood

Hastings Chief of Police Paul Schnell will be leaving the city of Hastings. Schnell accepted the job as the Maplewood police chief.

He will begin the new role in late July or early August.

Schnell came to Hastings three years ago to replace Mike McMenomy.

Prior to that, he was the public information officer at the St. Paul Police Department.

“It is with excitement for a different type of challenge that I accepted the position,” Schnell said in a press release issued by the City of Hastings.  “In spite of my excitement, I also feel a sense of loss in the relationships and connections that have developed here [in Hastings]. I am profoundly grateful for all the hard work members of this department invest to deliver the high quality services we provide in accordance with the CORE values of the city.”
