Hastings bridge down to single lane for an extra hour
The Hastings bridge is down to one lane for a little longer through Friday, May 9, according to a press release.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is extending the hours of single-lane traffic across the bridge. It will now be single lane from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Saturday, May 3, the bridge will be single lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The painting and repair project scheduled on the bridge began Monday, April 14 with the installation of a temporary signal system at Highway 55 and Dakota County Road 42. The signal will smooth traffic flow by improving left-hand turns from Highway 55 onto County Road 42 and from County Road 42 to Highway 55. Repairs also are underway on abutments, piers and beams beneath the south end of the bridge with completion in early May.
The single-lane restriction is expected to be lifted by mid-July.
