Guelle and Francis qualify for state track meet
The Hastings boys track team will be represented in two events at this weekend's state track meet at Hamline University.
Dan Guelle, a Hastings junior, has qualified for the state meet in the 400-meter run.
Kyle Francis, a Hastings senior, has qualified for the state meet in the pole vault.
The pole vault is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday, June 5, at Hamline.
Francis sits in the middle of the pack in terms of the field.
Blake Weimerskirch of Robbinsdale Armstrong has the top height in the state at 14-2. Six competitors have cleared 13-11.
Francis has a qualifying mark of 13-0.
Guelle is one of 16 runners in the 400 at the state meet. His race will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday. Finals are Saturday.
Troy Pollard of St. Paul Highland has the top time at 49.26 seconds.
Guelle's official qualifying time for the state meet is 51.33, which he ran in the finals at the section meet. In the section prelims, though, he finished in 50.76.
As a team, the Raiders finished 10th out of 16 teams with 42 points.
Farmington won the meet with 136 points.
