Goodwill to open store in former Big Lots space at Westview Center
Hastings Minnesota 745 Spiral Boulevard 55033

The space at Westview Center formerly occupied by Big Lots and County Market will soon have a new tenant. Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota will open a store that will sell clothing and household items. The store is expected to open in early July.

The new store will have 15,000 square feet of sales floor and a drive-through donation center. According to a release from Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota, the new store will be configured like other Goodwill stores in Eagan, Stillwater, Maple Grove and Shakopee.

"This store continues our efforts to enhance our customers' shopping experience by providing a clean, well-merchandised store environment," said Debbie Ferry, Goodwill/Easter Seals' vice president of retail services.

Hastings Family Services will no doubt be affected by the presence of Goodwill here. HFS has its own second-hand clothing store in place, and the money raised from the sale of those clothes helps to fund their services. HFS executive director Chris Koop recently learned of Goodwill's plans.

"We're just hopeful that our donors who believe in our mission will continue to support us," Koop said. "It's always good to have other resources in the community. We're pretty confident we have some people who really believe in the service we provide. Hopefully our donors will continue to visit us."

Goodwill exists primarily to provide employment and workforce development for people with disabilities and "other barriers to employment," according to the release. Goodwill/Easter Seals is looking for store management and will soon begin a search for hourly employees. Applications will be accepted online at www.goodwilleasterseals.org.

This will be the 18th Goodwill location in the state.
