Girls track team in season homestretch

Hastings High School's girls track and field team is wrapping up its season and heading into the conference preliminaries next week. After a quadrangular meet in Cottage Grove May 20, the team will head into prelims May 25. Finals are May 27. Both conference meets will be held at East Ridge High School.

Spartan Invite

The Raider girls placed fifth at the Spartan Invitational in Richfield April 29. The team scored 71.5 points, putting them ahead of Park of Cottage Grove and Columbia Heights. Richfield won the meet with 195.5 points.

The results went like this:

• 4x800 relay - Hastings, first, 10:33.19;

• 100 hurdles - McKenzie Hollar, 10th, 19.15; Allie Nolan, 11th, 19.53; Ashley Bayne, 13th, 20.20;

Lakeville Invite

The Raiders placed fourth out of five teams at the Lakeville Invitational May 6. They scored 95.8333 points. Red Wing won the meet with 173 points. The results went like this:

True Team Meet

The girls competed in the True Team section meet May 12 and scored 364 points and placed sixth out of seven teams. Stillwater won the meet with 806 points and will advance to the True Team state meet this weekend.

Duluth

The Raiders got even more experience in Duluth May 14 at the Trojan Invite. Hastings placed first out of seven teams at the meet, earning 184 points.

Top finishers included the 3200 relay team, which had a first-place time of 10:34; Alverson with a first in the 400 (1:02.6) and long jump (15-09.5) and third in the 100 (13.4); Pechous with a first place in the 1600 (5:30.5) and 3200 (12:07.8); Huneke with a second place in the 400 (1:03.2) and second in the triple jump (30-11.5); Emily Hughes with third in the 300 hurdles (51.5); Mancl with a second in the 800 (2:33.1); the 1600 relay team, which placed first with a time of 4:17.0; Martin with a third in shot put (27-06.5) and second in discus (81-08.0); Klimek with a first place in pole vault (7-6) and Meckle with a third place in pole vault (6-0).
