Girls tennis: Raiders have had one busy start

It has been a busy start to the season for the Hastings High School girls tennis team.

The Raiders played in two out-of-town invitationals, one Aug. 22 in Duluth and the second Aug. 26 in Lakeville.

Hastings finished in third at the Lakeville tournament, and the Raiders finished the two tournaments with a 3-3 record.

Lakeville tournament

Hastings defeated Armstrong in the first round of a tournament in Lakeville on Aug. 26, 4-2.

Shanna Burgmeier won at first singles, 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Lindsey Reinisch and her Armstrong opponent had their match stopped after Hastings secured the fourth win. Reinisch had lost the first set, 5-7, but was leading in the second, 4-2.

At third singles, Morgan Tjomsland lost the first set, 5-7, before coming back to win the second, 6-2. She lost in a super tiebreaker, 10-6.

At fourth singles, Jessica Wassink won 6-4, 6-4.

At first doubles, Kirsten Peterson and Ashley Addison won 6-4, 4-6 and 14-12.

At second doubles, Erika Nielsen and Hannah Carlson won 6-4, 2-6, 10-7.

At third doubles, the team of Mackenzie Klimek and Hailey Lundquist lost 7-5, 3-6, 10-4.

In the semifinal match, Lakeville North beat Hastings, 5-2.

Burgmeier lost at first singles, 7-5, 6-4.

Reinisch won at second singles, 3-6, 7-5, 10-4.

Tjomsland lost at third singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Wassink lost at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, Peterson and Addison lost 6-3, 6-3.

Nielsen and Carlson lost at second doubles, 6-2, 6-2.

Katie Rodriguez and Lundquist won at third doubles, 6-3, 3-6, 10-4.

In the third-place match, Hastings beat Austin, 4-3.

Burgmeier won at first singles, 6-4, 7-6 (5).

Reinisch won at second singles, 6-3, 6-3.

Tjomsland won at third singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Carlson lost at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles play, Peterson and Addison won 6-4, 7-6 (4).

Nielson and Wassink lost at second doubles, 6-2, 6-4.

Abby Williams and Lundquist lost at third doubles, 7-5, 6-2.

Duluth

Hastings competed at a tournament in Duluth Aug. 22.

The Raiders lost to Duluth East in the first round, 4-3.

Burgmeier lost at first singles, 6-1, 6-1.

Reinisch lost at second singles, 6-2, 6-2 and Tjomsland lost at third singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Wassink lost at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-4.

Peterson and Nielsen won 6-3, 6-2.

Gina Dabruzzi and Addison won at second doubles, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.

Carlson and Rodriguez won at third doubles, 7-5, 6-2.

In the second round, Hastings beat White Bear Lake, 4-3.

Burgmeier won 7-6, 7-6.

Reinisch won 6-3, 6-0.

Peterson won at third singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Wassink lost at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles, Dabruzzi and Addison lost at the first spot, 6-1, 6-2.

Tjomsland and Nielsen won at second doubles, 6-3, 6-1.

Rodriguez and Katie Zuzek lost at third doubles, 3-6, 7-5, 10-4.

In the final match against Virginia, Hastings lost 5-2.

Burgmeier fell 6-4, 6-1.

Reinisch won 6-2, 6-0.

Tjomsland won 6-2, 6-0.

Addison won 6-4, 6-2.

Peterson and Nielsen lost at first doubles, 1-6, 6-2, 10-8.

Dabruzzi and Wassink lost at second doubles, 6-2, 6-2.

Carlson and Lundquist won at third doubles, 6-3, 6-4.
