Girls lacrosse team shows improvement against Rangers
It wasn’t a win, but Hastings girls lacrosse coach Nikki Peterson called it Hastings “best game of the season.”
It came April 23 against Forest Lake and was a 15-5 loss.
“Our girls showed so much improvement since we played them last year,” Peterson said. “Our passing game has become so great. Even though the score does not justify it, our girls really gained some confidence in that game.”
Hastings lost to Forest Lake last season, 18-0.
“Our defense is working together really well and communicating a lot better,” Peterson said. “Our offense is moving the ball so quick up the midfield and we have a couple of girls who are confident to run the ball in and take quite a few shots on net. The Forest Lake coach came up to us after the game and said that she was impressed with the improvements we have made since last year. Our girls should be very proud, because I know that I am as a coach.”
Hastings goals were scored by Megan Shoen (two), Amy McNamara (two) and Hannah Moldenhauer.
Hastings lost to Woodbury on April 30, 15-6.
On Monday, May 5, Hastings lost to Cretin-Derham Hall, 22-0.
Hastings is 0-8 on the season.
