Girls hockey team wins three of four games

The Hastings girls hockey team has gone 3-1 in its past four games. Included in that action are two wins over Suburban East Conference opponents.


Here are summaries on each of the four games:

Vs East Ridge

Hastings beat East Ridge on Saturday, Dec. 21, 4-1.

Hastings scored four first-period goals to take control of the game right away.

The Raiders opened the scoring at 6:54 on a goal by Kiki Radke, assisted by Kit Ruedy and Elle Cooper.

East Ridge countered with a goal at 11:22 to tie the score.

Hastings then got three goals in two minutes.

At 12:32, Nicole Klimek scored, assisted by Erin Moes.

At 14:13, Sami Claussen scored, assisted by Klimek.

Just a few seconds later, Radke scored again, assisted by Moes. Her goal came at 14:52.

Hastings had 16 shots on goal.

East Ridge had 17.

Brooke Weber made 16 saves on 17 shots to earn the win.

Vs Rochester

Hastings lost to Rochester Century on Dec. 26, 5-3, in the first round of a tournament in Farmington.

The two teams were tied 3-3 heading into the third period. In the third, Century scored twice to pull away and win.

Hastings got goals from Radke (two) and Cooper.

Assists were made by Anna Foster, Klimek and Cooper.

Weber made 23 saves on 27 shots.

Hastings had 26 shots on goal.

Vs. Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato

Hastings had no trouble beating Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato in the second round of the Farmington tournament, winning 11-0.

Hastings scored eight goals in the second period.

Leading the Raiders were Claussen, who had one goal and four assists, and Natalie Simons, who had a hat trick and one assist.

Also scoring goals were Radke (two), Abbey Putnam, Erin Moes (two), Nicole Klimek and Isabel Karbo.

Also earning assists were Radke, Anna Williams, Mikayla Minnaert, Putnam, Moes and Kit Ruedy (two).

Weber earned the shutout, but didn’t exactly have to work real hard for it – she saw just four shots.

Hastings had 48 shots on goal.

Vs Park

Hastings beat Park on Saturday, 3-1.

Hastings got on the scoreboard at 5:46 of the second period when Radke scored, assisted by Simons and Williams.

At 1:32 of the second period, Claussen scored on the power play to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead. She was assisted by Simons.

Park scored at 4:12, but Hastings got a goal at 9:09 from Claire Williams to go up 3-1. She was assisted by Cooper.

Weber made 24 saves on 25 shots.

Hastings had 48 shots on goal.
