Girls hockey: Hastings edges Mounds View, 4-3

The Hastings girls hockey team improved its record to 5-2 with a 4-3 win over Mounds View Tuesday night in Hastings.

Three second-period goals were the difference for the Raiders.

Hastings took a 1-0 lead at 9:06 with a goal by Hailey Lundquist, assisted by Jackie Stark.

Mounds View opened the scoring in the second period, getting two goals just five minutes into the period to take a 2-1 lead.

Hastings countered, though, with three goals in nine minutes to get the lead back.

Danielle Duffy scored at 6:22, assisted by Courtney Boucher and Brittney Huneke.

At 13:22, Huneke scored on the power play, assisted by Boucher and Josie Stepan.

Huneke scored again at 15:35, this one short-handed.

Mounds View added at goal at 16:13 on the power play, but it was too little, too late.

Stef Wical made 15 saves on 18 shots to earn the win in goal.

Vs. Eastview

Hastings lost to Eastview on Friday, 3-2.

The Raiders outshot the Lightning, 23-18.

Huneke had a goal and an assist, as did Boucher. Natalie Simons and Mackenzie Klimek each had an assist.

Wical made 15 saves on 18 shots.
