Girls Golf- Raiders advance four to finals

The Hastings girls golf team wasn't able to qualify a golfer for next week's state tournament, but the fact that the Raiders had four golfers qualify for the second round of the section tournament has HHS coach Becky Hartung excited about the future of her program.

She's especially excited considering none of the golfers who advanced at sections are seniors.

Jordy Klimek led the Raiders with a two-day total of 180. She is a junior. Ellen Bergschneider had a 93 and a 95 and she, too, is a junior.

Lexie Harp had a 95 on the first day of play and a 98 on the second day. She is a freshman.

Lastly, Sadie Karbo, an eighth-grader, had a 99 and a 106.

"They did a great job," Hartung said. "The girls improved a great deal throughout the season and posted some of their best scores at sections. That's very encouraging for the future."

Hastings concludes its season with a conference match today (Thursday) at Oak Glen.
