Former Papa's building under new ownership; new restaurant planned
After sitting on the property market for about a year and a half, the building that once was Papa's Bar and Grill has a new owner.
Charlie Burrows and his partner, Linda Young, bought the property a few weeks ago, Burrows said. He and his partner own a few restaurants - Lucky's 13 Pub in Mendota and Bloomington, a franchise store in South Dakota and a Rudy's Redeye Grill in Rosemount. They used to own Axels and Bonfire, until about three years ago. This is Burrows' and Young's first Hastings property.
The former Papa's building, located on East 33rd Street, will also be a restaurant, Burrows said, but he and his partner aren't sure yet just what will happen with the place.
"We're just kind of working our way through it right now," he said.
It may take some time to see any development. Burrows said he and Young want to make sure they do everything right, so their experience in Hastings is a good one.
"We're going to take our time and do what we need to do," he said.
