Felony assualt is charged
The Dakota County Sheriff's Office has charged a 37-year-old Farmington man with one count of felony domestic assault by strangulation, one count of misdemeanor domestic assault, and one count of assault in the fifth degree following an incident Feb. 3 in Vermillion Township.
According to the criminal complaint filed in the Dakota County Attorney's office, deputies were dispatched to the residence on the report of a domestic assault. A woman said she had been abused by Mark Andrew Myskewitz. They had been talking and the argument started to get heated. She said she tried to leave the room, but Myskewitz followed her around and yelled profanities at her. When she asked him to leave, Myskewitz reached out with his right hand and grabbed her by the throat and squeezed her.
As she tried to leave the residence, she said Myskewitz blocked her exit and grabbed her arm. She screamed for help, and he released her.
At the residence, deputies talked to Myskewitz. He said he was embarrassed, and he did grab her by the throat, and tried to grab her as she went out the door. He was placed under arrest.
