Expect flagging on Second Street near bridge Wednesday
Last week, construction crews moved the causeway from the old Hastings Bridge to the existing bridge in order to continue demolition of "Big Blue." Crews will continue to remove the north approach deck and superstructure. This process is expected to last through mid-August.
On the main span of the new Hastings Bridge, crews began painting the tie girder and knuckles Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Concrete pours will occur on the new south approach beginning Aug. 7. The first pour will take place near Pier 5 and subsequent pours will move south toward the river bank. This activity will begin at 6 a.m. on Wednesday and will require a flagging operation on Second Street to allow for safe access to and from the pour site for the concrete trucks. It is anticipated to end mid-afternoon on the same day. Two additional pours will occur over the next two weeks. Please stay tuned for those details in our next update.
Remember, Hastings is open for business during construction activities and all marinas are accessible via Highway 61. Please follow the posted detour signs.
