Elaine "Toni" Mae Gergen, age 89, of Prescott, Wis., died Monday, Dec. 10, at Regina Medical Center in Hastings, Minn.
She was born on March 16, 1923, in River Falls, Wis., to Edward and Verna (Meier) Tronnier. She graduated from River Falls High School. After graduation, she went to work for Smeads Manufacturing in Hastings, where she met her husband, Adam Milton Gergen. They were married on Sept. 6, 1944, and together they had six children.
Elaine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved her home and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Elaine spent most of her free time sewing and hand-quilting, which was her true passion. She will be missed by her family, who she truly loved.
Elaine is survived by her children, Tom (Sandy) Gergen of Prescott, John (Kathy) Gergen of Prescott, Sue (Dan) Murphy of Ellsworth; brothers Edward Tronnier of King, Wis., and Richard Tronnier of Prescott; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Milton Gergen; infant son Robert; son Gary Gergen; daughter Nancy Suckow; brothers James Tronnier and Howard Tronnier.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott with Father John Robert officiating. The visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
