Edward L. Lewanski, 88
Edward L. Lewanski, age 88, of Hastings, passed away on Jan. 6, at Regina Assisted Living.
Edward was born on February 21, 1925, to Alexander and Josephine Lewanski in Bronx, N.Y. He was in the Navy during World War II. Edward worked for many years at Armours, then later as a custodian at the Hastings High School. Edward married Annette Turenne on July 5, 1947, in St. Paul, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years who passed away on March 8, 2013, Annette; parents; sister Lillian; and brother, Frank Lewanski.
Edward is survived by his children, Jeanne (Bill) Loesch; Jerome (Jan) Lewanski; Sherry (Lee) Schmitz; Jim (Joy) Lewanski; Tom (Gail) Lewanski; and Michael Lewanski; grandchildren, Jacob, Casey, and Catie Loesch, Marya and Greta Lewanski, Corah and Owen Schmitz, Eric and Brandon Lewanski, Anna, Alex and Josh Lewanski, Aiyana, Saura and Summer Lewanski; great-grandchildren, Leo, Eddie, Charlie, William, and Calvin Loesch, and Grant Lewanski; sisters Helen Mykolyn, and Hedy Deming; in-laws, Bob (Grace) Turenne, Ted Turenne, Ann Branchaud, Maryann Cegon, Pat O'Halloran, Judy Turenne, and Diane Turenne; many nieces; nephews; and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday Jan. 10, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th Street, in Hastings. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring Street, in Hastings and 1 hours prior at church on Friday. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13.
