Editorial: Organizers and sponsors of festival applauded
They did it again.
On Saturday, 1,000 Hastings area residents came to the riverfront to soak in the sun and hear good music. That fun day was made possible by a dedicated group of volunteers that deserves an enormous pat on the back.
We applaud those who helped make the Hastings Music Festival happen again this year. It’s a whole lot of work with absolutely no pay. The non-profit event benefits Hastings Family Service, which feeds the poor, gives students in need school supplies and ensures that no child here has a Christmas without gifts (among other things).
Certainly, the cause is a noble one.
And again this year, the festival organizers drew a strong lineup down to the river.
While their work cannot go unnoticed, nor can the sponsors. Behind the scenes, several Hastings-area businesses stepped forward with cash in hand to help out. Others donated their expertise or materials to help out. All those businesses should be applauded as well. Without them, the event wouldn’t be able to make that significant donation to family service.
We can’t wait to see what 2014 holds for the festival.
