Editorial: Great job, KDWA and First National Bank!
A huge round of applause goes out this week to Hastings radio station KDWA and to First National Bank.
For more than 40 years, the two have teamed up to conduct a fundraiser for Hastings Family Service called Project Share.
Tens of thousands of dollars have been raised over the years, including another $4,000 that was raised at this year’s event on Saturday.
We’d like to give you both a little bit more recognition this week, as it appears as though this was the final Project Share. We are sad to see the tradition end, and we hope someone steps up to take on another effort like this.
The funds raised certainly come at a crucial time for Hastings Family Service. HFS is entering the busiest time of year, with hundreds of local families seeking assistance at the holidays.
The fact that First National Bank and KDWA have held the event for this long is a testament to their commitment to the community.
They’re certainly not alone in giving of their time and expertise to benefit the community. Merchants Bank recently concluded its 10 Days of Giving, another event that benefits HFS. Dozens of sponsors helped out for Gobble Gait. Behind the scenes every day, businesses and people step up to donate.
We can’t think of another event, though, that has been around for 44 years that helped out in such a big way.
Job well done, KDWA and First National Bank!
