Driver in Highway 55 crash on Monday said he fell asleep while driving
A head-on collision between two vehicles on Highway 55 near Emerald Greens Golf Course Dec. 12 appears to be the result of driving while tired.
William Wessinger, 39 of Hastings, was traveling east on Highway 55 at about 3:20 p.m. when he began to weave and suddenly crossed into the westbound lane. He struck another vehicle, driven by Royce Parker, 69 of Edina, nearly head-on. According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, Wessinger said he thought he had fallen asleep while driving.
Both drivers were transported to the hospital.
