Donald N. Rohr

Donald N. Rohr, 80, of Cannon Falls, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 21, 2009, at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls following a lengthy illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 W. Colvill St., Cannon Falls, with the Reverend Jay K. Kythe officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Pius V Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd., Cannon Falls, and one hour prior at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the State Services for the Blind, the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of the donor's choice.

Donald N. Rohr was born Nov. 9, 1929, in Hastings, Minn., the son of Peter and Marie (Mainz) Rohr. At an early age, he attended St. Boniface School and later enlisted in the United States Army where he served in 1951. He was united in marriage to Shirley F. Miller on June 13, 1953, in Hastings. The couple made their home on a farm outside of Hastings and in 1964 moved to a farm north of Cannon Falls where they continued to make their home following his retirement in 1994.

Donald will be known as a hard worker who was honest, enjoyed helping others and particularly enjoyed music and dancing.

Donald is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley; his children, Jeanette (Tom) Pries of Eyota, Kenneth (Lisa) Rohr of Cannon Falls, Marion Gergen and fiancé, Ernest Hendren, of Franksville, Wis., Ronald Rohr and Maureen (Charles) Sabrowsky, all of Cannon Falls, Dolores (Andy) Kornkven of Northfield, Donna (John) Lindahl and Gordon (Sarah) Rohr, all of Cannon Falls; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Edmund (Carol) Rohr, and his sister, Mary Jean (John) Engstrom, all of Hastings.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Gerald, Jerome, Eugene and Larry; and three sisters, Charlotte, Evelyn and Sharon.
