Dennis Klopf, 63
Dennis Klopf "Diamond Denny", age 63, of St. Paul, formerly of Denmark Township, Hastings, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4, at United Hospital ICU.
Denny was a "longtime newspaper carrier for the Hastings Star Gazette and Trade Winds, St. Paul Pioneer Press, and Star Tribune." Denny previously worked at Afton Alps Ski Area as a snowmaker, worked on the Augustine Farms, and also for Husting & Engstom, Inc. He owned and operated "Diamond Denny's Ice". He bartended at Friar Tuck's, Hooligans, and Hastings Eagles Club. "He only had ICE for you!" (The frozen kind!)
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wally and Betsy Klopf; 2 year old sister, Mary Jane Klopf (1949); his maternal grandparents, Dennis and Minnie Cook, all of Denmark Township; his paternal grandparents, William and Mary Klopf of Maiden Rock, Wis.; and step grandmother, Laurina Klopf-Holmes of Red Wing, Minn.
He is survived by sister, Patricia Klopf-Seeger and husband, James; his nephews, Matt (Jen) Seeger and Daniel Seeger; step great-nephews, Nicholas and Tyler Rowan; his twin great-nieces, Emily and Chloe Seeger (the loves of his life!), all of Hastings.
Dennis' wishes were to be cremated and we will have a celebration of his life in the Spring to coincide with his last wish!
Memorials preferred to the Ronald McDonald House (they provide meals to families at Gillette Children's Hospital), Juvenille Diabetes Research, Sharing and Caring Hands of Minneapolis (Mary's Place), Coats for Kids, The Lupus Foundation, American Heart Assn., SEAS Church of Hastings, Minn., or the charity of your choice.
We would be greatly honored if you would make a donation! Or do a "Pay It Forward" buy the guy behind you his cup of coffee, etc.
Dennis loved those stories!!
