David Alan Metzger, 50

Email

David Alan Metzger, age 50, a former resident of Hastings, passed away in his sleep on Nov. 23.

David enjoyed Vikings football, (good or bad), making friends, playing Yahtzee, (he always won), music and spending time with his family, especially his brother Brad. David was a loving son and brother who told each of us that he loved us every time we saw or spoke to him. He was wonderful and open with his feelings. David left us far too soon and it is very hard to let go. We do find comfort knowing that he has a brand new life in heaven and is unchained from the illnesses he struggled with while here on earth. He is loved and will always be missed.

David was preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents.

He is survived by his mother, Brenda McGuire; father, Gerald Metzger; sisters, Sonia Metzger, and Claire Anderson; and brother Brad Metzger.

A private family graveside service was held on Friday, Nov. 29, at Oakwood Cemetery in Hastings. The sun was shining and the wind was at our backs just like David would have wanted it.

The family wishes to thank some of David's caretakers; Dr. Michael Spilane, you are a wonderful, compassionate, physician; David was blessed with you helping all of us through this. Also the staff at The Lodge Hospice Home in Burnsville, specifically, Kurt, Lola, Karen, Jackie, Laurie, and TJ. You are angels to the dying and thank you for taking such good care of David.
