CVS on track for spring construction, fall opening

CVS Pharmacy is almost ready to begin the physical side of its new construction project in Hastings.

After getting approval from the Minnesota Department of Transportation to have one right-in, right-out access on Vermillion Street, the company has been advancing its work to build a new store on the northeast corner of Vermillion and 15th streets. The store, parking lot and drive-thru will take up the entire block.

CVS recently submitted its plans to the City of Hastings in order to get a building permit, said Community Development Director John Hinzman. Once the building permit is approved, CVS will need final approval of its development agreement before work can begin on-site. CVS is on schedule to break ground this spring, Hinzman said. If there are no delays, the store could open this fall.

Hinzman was unsure of the status of property sales on the site.
