The sale, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, will be held at the Curves building. Items for sale will include men's, women's and children's clothing, books, toys and furniture. All items have been, and are being, donated by Curves members.

Curves has had an ongoing relationship with the Lewis House for years, said Curves owner Sue Rembleski. Members routinely drop items in the donation box at Curve, and are then taken to the Lewis House.

The Lewis House, a domestic violence shelter, has been located in Hastings since March 2001. The first Lewis House, located in Eagan, observes its 30th anniversary this fall.

"Hastings is a very generous community," said Lewis House and sexual assault services coordinator Ann Sheridan. "We serve people throughout Dakota County and have residents from Hastings who use our shelter."

"Both shelters are full all the time," she said. "That is too bad, but it is good we are here.

"Our goal is to help the people become self-sufficient when they leave," she said. The shelters offer a variety of services for people to meet that goal.

Currently, the Lewis House in Hastings is in need of a new roof. Proceeds from the garage sale will be used for that project, Sheridan said.

Anyone interested in donating gently used items for the garage sale can contact Rembleski at 437-2606. Those who bring items will receive special Curves discount coupons.

The sale will include "something for everyone," Rembleski said. "And it will be priced to sell."
