Highway 55 was closed for a few hours in both directions between Highway 52 and County Road 42 Tuesday afternoon.

Rosemount Police and the Minnesota State Patrol were on scene for a crash involving a car and a semi-trailer, according to Farmington Police Chief Brian Lindquist, who was on his way to training at Flint Hills at the time of the accident. Lindquist responded to provide assistance at the scene.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, an 18-year-old Hastings woman was driving eastbound on Highway 55 and was driving too fast for the road conditions. She lost control and spun around into oncoming traffic in the area of Doyle Path.

According to the incident report, the driver of the westbound semi-trailer crashed into the uncontrolled vehicle, ran off the road to the right and crashed into a group of trees. The woman's vehicle came to rest in the eastbound ditch.

The report indicates the semi driver went to the hospital.

The incident caused the highway to be closed for a few hours. The crash was reported at 12:38 p.m. As of about 4:30 p.m., MnDOT was reporting the road was cleared.
