Cocaine possession charged

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office has charged John Luke Klemke, 24, Duluth, with one count of controlled substance crime in the third degree (possession), two counts of fourth-degree while driving impaired, and one count each of driving after suspension, open bottle, and failure to provide proof of insurance. The charges were filed after a Dakota County deputy stopped Klemke's car Jan. 2 in Hastings for failing to yield at a stop sign. The driver identified himself as Klemke. A check of his driving record indicated his license was suspended.

Klemke did poorly on field sobriety tests and a breath test and was placed under arrest. When the vehicle was searched, deputies found a bag of powdery substance. A second bag of a white substance was also found under the center console in the vehicle. The substances tested positive for cocaine.
