City Council: Street project bid, tennis court repairs and fee and license changes
The next Hastings City Council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, in Hastings City Hall. Here's a look at what's on the agenda.
There are three public hearings scheduled. The council will allow comments and vote on amendments to the city code to adjust some city fees and change some licensing ordinances, allow alcohol to in Jaycee Park until 11 p.m. during Rivertown Days and adjusting the fee charged to people or organizations for staff time on special or non-routine services.
After receiving three bids on the 2012 street improvement project, the council will vote on a staff recommendation to accept the $2.1 million bid from Friedges Contracting Co., LLC, of Lakeville. Friedges submitted the lowest of the three bids, and the cost would include the optional work on Eddy, 16th and Spring streets north of 17th Street. Work is tentatively scheduled to begin in late April or early May, and would be completed by the end of August.
The Hastings Parks and Recreation Department is looking to repair the Roadside Park tennis courts. A proposal to move forward on a $78,000 quote from Upper Midwest Athletic Construction will be discussed and voted on by the council.
Other items up for discussion include authorizing a city volunteer program, approving an addition for Valley Chevrolet and denying a special use permit.
