With the turnover of a new year, the council has several consent agenda resolutions to approve, such as giving approval to the mayor, finance director and assistant finance director to conduct financial transactions for the city, designating the Hastings Star Gazette as the official legal newspaper for the city and authorizing the chief of police to execute data sharing and system access agreements with the Office of State Court Administration.

Along with the housekeeping items, the council will recognize Cindy Thury Smith, who has been the curator in the Hastings Pioneer Room and whose position has been eliminated. Brian Schommer, a long-time member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, will also be recognized for his service. Schommer has reached his term limits on the commission.
