City Council: A heart safe community and new police reservists

The next Hastings City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 (city offices are closed Monday, Feb. 17, for Presidents’ Day). Here’s a look at what’s on the agenda.

The council will read a proclamation declaring Hastings a Heart Safe Community. Locally, Hastings Heart Restart has taken the lead on developing programs in support of the Heart Safe Community initiative, encouraging and offering numerous activities focused on early access, early care and post-cardiac arrest care efforts.

Four new police reservists will be sworn in. They are Mathew Garrick, Jenna Hicks, Cody Jones and Mathew Klaes.

Several items are included on the consent agenda, which are not expected to generate any discussion.
