City Council: Employee recognition, rezoning and next year's budget
The Hastings City Council will hold its final meeting of the year at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19. Here's a look at what's on the agenda.
Several city employees will be recognized for their years of service to the city. Fifteen employees mark their fifth year; seven have been here 10 years; five have been here 15 years; three have put in 20 years; three have been here 25 years; and one employee marks 35 years.
The council will consider rezoning a triplex property from commercial to residential. The property attracted the planning department's attention when the owner proposed adding a garage there. The rezoning is proposed to bring the property more in line with the city's comprehensive plan.
Also on the agenda is final action to adopt the 2012 city budget and levy. The proposed budget is $25,939,598, an increase of 1.57 percent over the 2011 budget. It is about $73,000 lower than the preliminary levy that was approved in September. The proposed tax levy is $11,746,000, an increase of 4.28 percent.
