City Council: 40 years for Hastings Family Service and housing background checks
The Hastings City Council is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Hastings City Hall. The agenda is a brief one.
The council will hear a presentation from Hastings Family Service in recognition of the organization's 40th year in Hastings.
Also on the agenda is a public hearing regarding Crime Free Multi Housing. Police are recommending a change to city code to reflect compliance with federal and state laws regarding the use of data from the Criminal Justice Data Communications Network (CJDN). The change would disallow the use of CJDN data for Crime Free Multi Housing background checks - a practice previously used in the department when landlords participating in the Crime Free Multi Housing program requested background checks on potential residential tenants.
