Ceiling collapses in downtown Hastings apartment; one injured

One person was injured Friday afternoon in downtown Hastings after portions of a ceiling collapsed in an apartment. Star Gazette photo by Chad Richardson

Portions of a ceiling in a downtown Hastings apartment collapsed Friday afternoon, injuring one person.

An adult female was transported to the emergency room for treatment. Her injuries were not life threatening.

Crews from the Hastings Fire Department and the Hastings Police Department responded.

Ceiling tiles and plaster above those tiles fell.

It wasn't immediately known why the ceiling collapsed.

The collapse occurred in the 100 block of Second Street.
