Candidate forum is set for July 24

HastingsHappenings. co is sponsoring a Hastings City Council Candidate forum from 7 p.m. to 8:30p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 400 Ninth St. W.

Invited to participate are the six City Council at-large candidates – Joanna Bayers, Lori Braucks, Blaine Hornbuckle, Ian Martin, Mark Vaughan and Tom Wright. Wright dropped out of the race earlier this week, but his name will still appear on the ballot.

At the Aug. 12 city primary election the number of candidates will be reduced from six to four for the two open positions.

Tom Bullington, founder of, will be the moderator for the evening forum and will ask questions submitted by the audience and those provided ahead of the forum. Each candidate can provide both an opening and closing two-minute statement. This is not a debate.

The forum is free and open to the community.

For more information, call Bullington at 651-402-6356, or by email at
