Michael Kampa receives Bachelor of Fine Arts in filmmaking
Michael Kampa of Hastings received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in filmmaking from Minneapolis College of Art & Design (MCAD) during its Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 18. Over the last four years, Michael studied a wide range of subjects including advanced filmmaking, editing, screenwriting and advertisement. Michael's goal is to be a writer/director for film and television. His plans are to move to California within the next year to pursue that goal. Michael has one sister, Emma, who will be completing her junior year at Hastings High School. To see some of Michael's work, check him out at vimeo.com/mkampa. Michael is the son of Rick and Linda Kampa.
Sinloria Macrae has been awarded the Luther Scholarship
Bethany Lutheran College is proud to announce that Sinloria Macrae has been awarded the Luther Scholarship for the 2013-14 school year. Macrae is a senior at Hastings Senior High School. This scholarship, valued at $26,000 over four years, is based on high school grade-point average and national standardized test scores.

Rachel Latuff of Hastings graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth, School of Fine Arts, on May 18, 2013, with magna cum laude honors.

AgStar Awards Scholarship to Kayla Brown
The AgStar Fund for Rural America, the corporate giving program of AgStar Financial Services, is pleased to award Kayla Brown, a senior at Hastings High School, a $1,000 scholarship. The AgStar Fund awards $20,000 in scholarships to 20 graduating seniors every year. Students within AgStar's 69-county service area in Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin are eligible. Four students from each of AgStar's five regions are chosen to receive a scholarship.
High school seniors were eligible if they planned to receive higher education to pursue careers in agriculture related fields or have come from a rural background and planned to obtain a degree in a non-agriculture related field. Students were judged based on their academic record, vocational promise, community service and leadership qualities. Applicants were required to have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Brown plans to attend the University of Notre Dame, majoring in biochemistry. She is the daughter of James and Diane Brown of Hastings.
University of Wisconsin-Stout announces graduates
