Laine graduates from St. John's
Eric Laine, the son of Donald and Linda Laine of Hastings, participated in the commencement ceremony at St. John's University on May 12 in the St. John's Abbey and University Church in Collegeville. Laine is a candidate to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian studies.
Isabel Arenivar graduates from Sarah Lawrence College
Isabel Arinevar earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College on May 24. Arenivar is a graduate of Hastings High School and the daughter of John and Becky Arenivar of Hastings.
Arinevar interned at the Breckenridge Music Festival in Breckenridge, Colo., during the summer of 2012.
Minnesota State Community College announces President's list
Richard Kieffer of Hastings has been named on the President's list for the spring semester at Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
Kieffer's major is electrical lineworker.
Saint Anselm College announces Dean's list
Meagan E. Trayers, an Economics major, was named to the Dean's list for the spring 2013 semester at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.
Trayers, a resident of Hastings, is a member of the class of 2015.
Aaron Henry graduates from St. Mary's
Aaron Henry received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary's University on May 11 in Winona. He is the son of John and Kathleen Henry of Hastings.
St. Olaf College announces graduate list
The following students from Hastings who graduated from St. Olaf College are: Severin Bialke, cum laude with a physics and mathematics major, son of Larry and Melody Bialke; Kristi Gangelhoff, magna cum laude with a chemistry major, daughter of Marlys Schmitt and Michael Gangelhoff; Erin Haglund, psychology major, daughter of John and Marcia Haglund; Devin Orchard, philosophy major, son of Keith and Darla Orchard.
Elizabeth Hardy receives 2013 Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship
The Comcast Foundation announced that Elizabeth Hardy, a graduate of Hastings High School, has been named a 2013 recipient of the annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. The Comcast Foundation was started in 1999 to provide charitable support to local communities and to empower and enrich lives across the country.
Hardy will be recognized at a special reception honoring all Twin Cities 2013 Leaders and Achievers Scholarship recipients at 11:30 a.m., June 20, at the St. Paul Hotel.
Honored for her leadership, Hardy volunteered at Feed My Starving Children and taught Junior Achievement Economics and Bible School. She was the Drum Major for Hastings High School Marching Band, where she received four Best Drum Major awards, and Superior Solo and ensemble ratings. She was also a member of the Hastings Riverside Company Back-Up Band, church handbell choir, Link Crew, Youth in Government and National Honor Society. She also was ranked in the Top 10 percent of her class and received an Academic Letter.
Hardy will attend Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in the fall.
