Boys tennis team is 2-1 in SEC play

It wasn't easy, and it wasn't predictable, but the Hastings boys tennis team managed to steal a win from the Stillwater Ponies on April 25, 4-3.

Hastings won three of the singles spots, all in three sets, and that was the key.

Cody Arndtson won at the first spot, 3-6, 7-6, 6-0.

Ben Klimek fell at second singles, but Steve Roach won at the third spot, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1.

Alex Zuzek then won at fourth singles, 3-6, 7-6, 7-5.

The top doubles team of Austin Houska and Craig Nielsen cruised to a win, 6-2, 6-0.

The No. 2 doubles team of Robby Troje and Killian Konrady fell 6-2, 6-2.

At third doubles, Carson Whyle and Danny Steiner lost 6-2, 6-0.

Hastings is now 4-5 overall and 2-1 in Suburban East Conference play.

Vs Woodbury

Hastings lost to Woodbury on April 29, 6-1.

The lone Hastings win came at No. 1 doubles, where Nielsen and Houska won 6-1, 7-5.

Arndtson lost at first singles, 6-7, 6-1, 6-3.

Klimek lost at second singles, 6-1, 6-2.

Roach lost at third singles, 6-0, 6-3 and Simon Schult lost at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, Zuzek and Troje fell at the second spot, 6-2, 6-1.

Steiner and Whyle lost at the third spot, 6-2, 6-2.

Owatonna meet

Hastings played two matches in Owatonna on April 20.

Hastings lost to Owatonna, 5-2, in the day's first match.

Earning wins for Hastings were Arndtson (at first singles), 6-4, 6-3, and the No. 1 doubles team of Nielsen and Houska, 6-4, 6-3.

In the meet's second match, Hastings lost to Lakeville South, 5-2.

Roach won at third singles (6-2, 6-3) and Houska and Nielsen won (6-4, 6-4).

Vs Rosemount

Hastings concluded a match it had begun April 7 against Rosemount. The meet was finished on April 24, and Hastings ended up winning 5-2.

Wins were recorded by Arndtson (5-7, 6-2, 6-1), Klimek (6-3, 6-1), the doubles team of Houska and Nielsen (2-6, 6-4, 6-2) and the doubles team of Zuzek and Roach (6-4, 6-3).
