Boys basketball team slips to 3-8 on the season

The Hastings boys basketball team has hit a rough patch of games lately and the team has slipped to 3-8 on the season.

The Raiders were 3-4 at one point, but they’ve lost their last four games, including two last week at a tournament here.


On Friday, Hastings lost to Simley, 76-62.

On Saturday, Hastings lost to Farmington, 93-80.

Against Simley, Hastings actually led 35-33 at the half, but the Spartans outscored the Raiders 43-27 in the second half to pull away and win.

Hastings was led in scoring by Craig Nielsen, who had 23.

Joe Dittrich had 17.

Also scoring were: Ross Dylla, 1; Sam Skoyen, 9; Drew Pottinger, 6; Brady Gullicks, 6.

Vs Farmington

Hastings trailed Farmington 49-37 after one half, then played a nearly even second half. The Tigers outscored the Raiders 44-43 in the second half and won, 93-80.

The Tigers were led by Zach Speikers, who had 38 points.

Hastings was led in scoring by Skoyen, who had 26.

Nielsen had 19, Dittrich had 16 and Pottinger had 13.

Also scoring were Zach Wiese, 2; Dylla, 2; and Gullicks, 2.
