So, you're a mother. You're busy with shuttling kids to soccer practice, you're busy with work, and your hair takes a backseat to the chaos that is most mornings.

And your hair never looks as good as the day it was cut at the salon.

So, what in the world did the stylist at the salon do to your hair to get it to look so good?

Wouldn't you like to know?

Well, now you can.

Nicole's Nu Wave in Hastings is offering a Blow Dry Boot Camp. It is open to anyone who wants to learn to style his or her hair like the pros do, and it is totally free. The boot camp will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at Nicole's in the Westview Center.

"It's their time to pick our brains," Nicole's Nu Wave owner Nicole Swanson said. "We're all educated for what we do. Why not share it?"

Attendees are encouraged to bring in their hair care products - everything from curling irons to shampoo to brushes - and stylists at Nicole's will observe as you use those products to style your hair. Those same stylists will give tips along the way.

If the bad hair days are caused in part by a flat iron that isn't doing the trick, Nicole's will take the flat iron in and then donate it to the Lewis House women's shelter in Hastings. Same with styling products that aren't working.

A cosmetics representative will also be present to help with makeup tips.

Many customers of Nicole's Nu Wave are not waiting for the special event to make their donations. Some have already donated items for the Lewis House.
