Bernice Traynor, age 86, of River Falls, Wis., died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at the River Falls Area Hospital.
Bernice was born Oct. 7, 1923, to Christian and Cora (Schruth) Hanson in Pepin Township, Wis.
On Dec. 13, 1941, Bernice married Sylvester Traynor Jr. in Spring Valley. They lived south of Spring Valley for many years. Sylvester was killed in a hunting accident Nov. 22, 1969. In 2007, Bernice moved to the Lutheran Home in River Falls.
Bernice was a gentle, kind-hearted woman who loved to be with her family. She also loved to crochet and embroider, and was an assistant 4-H leader. She raised her family and worked at Smead Manufacturing in Hastings, Minn.
Preceded in death by husband, Sylvester Traynor Jr.; her parents; brother, Loyall Hanson; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Traynor; sisters-in-law, Jayne and Dorothy Hanson, Evelyn Traynor, Jeannette Gilles, Marie York; and brothers-in-law, Vic Traynor, Fritz Gilles, Delmar York.
Survived by children, Sylvia (Lowell) Daley, Hastings, Keith Traynor, Spring Valley, Shirley (Gary) Moore, Roseville, Minn., Nancy (Patrick Sr.) Hines, Elmwood, Diane (Randy) Welsh, Hudson, Tim (Luann) Traynor, Elmwood; brothers, Marlin and Charles Hanson; sister-in-law, Patricia Hanson; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley. Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, Rev. Erin Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom Daley, Patrick Hines Jr., Chris Larson, Eric Welsh, Brandon Welsh, and Gerald Glasrud.
