In the Skate leg, Behrends came in four seconds behind Hansen.

At the end of the day, Behrends finished with a combined time of 26:45.1.

Hansen finished in 26:39.3.

"Wyatt had a really, really strong race," Hastings coach John Dewall said. "He was racing with that kid the whole way. It was a sprint to the finish. I was very proud of him. He was racing against the best kids in the conference. No question about it."

Hastings' Sergey Parasich finished 26th overall with a combined time of 30:30.3. He finished the Classic leg in 16:49.1 and the Skate leg in 13:41.3.

Also racing varsity were Josh Swenson and Joby Nolan.

"Josh and Joby, they did well, too," Dewall said. "They had good races. They're improving every meet. That's all we can ask."
