by Jane Lightbourn • Staff writer
She has made numerous appearances over the past several years at the Alexis Bailly Jazz in the Vineyard series, and Barbara Meyer makes her second visit this summer from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17.
Meyer’s background is built upon her experience with One World (reggae/world), hot jazz and opera.
Accompanying her are Stanley Kipper on drums, djembe, congas and vocals; Bill Hulett on bass guitar and vocals; and the Satellite Players, Rich Mattson, Andy Shaffer and Lyndy Zabel.
The afternoon will feature jazz classics old and new.
She will sing cabaret and jazz standards. Her musical roots also encompass Broadway show tunes, gospel and rock and roll.
There are two remaining concerts:
Aug. 24 – Pavel Jany and the Talking Strings has been on the music scene with a wide range of jazz styles from bossa nova to jazz-fusion. Gary Schulte and Andrew Foreman will join him for the afternoon.
Aug. 31 – Gondwana returns. The season concludes.
The Jazz in the Vineyard series are held Sunday afternoons in July and August at the Alexis Bailly Vineyard rain or shine. The vineyard will offer a variety of picnic needs for purchase. All its wines will be available for tasting and purchase.
