The Art of Living With Loss meets
The Art of Living with Loss - Grief Support Using Creative Therapy will meet at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the Orange Dragon Art Gallery, Prescott. (The gallery is leased and managed by HPAAC). HPAAC and the Orange Dragon Art Gallery are sponsoring the support group. Mecca Manz, HPAAC's director of the Visual Arts Forum, will lead the group.
"The purpose of this support group is to help individuals in our communities learn to live with the loss of loved one," said Manz. "Healing takes time and is a personal journey, but it does not have to be done alone.
"Learning to tap into one's own creativity is extremely therapeutic in the healing process, but it is often difficult to find the inspiration when grieving."
The discussion group (on the first Thursday) is the first step in this process, she said. The development of some creative workshops is the second phase.
The discussion group participants can share stories and will decide where that leads, such as whether they want the session to be confidential in nature.
The Hastings Prescott Area Arts Council's mission is to foster the arts and forge connections between artists, the arts and communities.
