Allen Richard Bauer Sr., 57
Allen Richard Bauer Sr., age 57, of Bay City, Wis., died instantly, Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, in a car accident on Highway 35 while returning from deer hunting.
Allen was born on Dec.10, 1949, in Red Wing, Minn., the son of Alois and Irene (Fox) Bauer. He attended Red Wing High School before graduating in 1969 from Benilde High School in St. Louis Park, Minn He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and, upon returning, went to work for the City of Red Wing Public Works Department, where he worked for 25 years.
Allen is survived by: his loving wife of nine years, Robin (Grittner) Bauer of Bay City, Wis.; children, Shawn Bauer and his wife Ruth of Lake City, Minn., Jason Bauer and his wife, Lisa of Zumbrota, Minn., Allen Bauer Jr. and his wife, Abby of Bay City, Wis., Tonya Grittner of Birchwood, Wis., and Cassie Grittner of Red Wing, Minn.; grandchildren, Luke, Haley, Kassie, Leah, Janette, Mieko, and Mia; siblings, Karen Cox and her husband, Eugene of Chanhassen, Minn. and Perry Bauer and his wife, Laurel of Columbia Heights, Minn.; Uncle Donald Fox; Aunts Janet Fox and Lois Bauer; many nieces and nephews. Allen is also survived by previous wives, Terry (Truman) Pruter, Lolo (Schneider) Bauer and Sylvia (Buck) Bauer.
His parents, Alois Bauer and Irene (Fox, Bauer) Kimmes, preceded him in death. And his beloved white German Sheperd, Buddy, who also died on Friday.
Allen loved the outdoors hunting deer, fishing, traveling and sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. His family was very important to him, he loved us all just as in turn loved him. He went by Big Al or Al Sr. to those of us who knew him well. He will be missed.
Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at Hill Funeral & Cremation Services, Ellsworth, Wis., and also one hour prior to mass at church on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Wing, Minn. Interment will be in Birchwood Cemetery.
