• At about noon Jan 23, Jennifer Dorschner, 35 of Hastings, spun out and hit a traffic sign at the intersection of Second Street and Nininger Road. Dorschner said she hit a patch of ice and the rear of her vehicle spun out. The passenger side of the vehicle struck the sign. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at about $500, with damage to the sign estimated at $200.

• Robert Danaher, 33 of Hastings, slid off the road and hit a fire hydrant and tree at 1:39 p.m. on South Frontage Road behind Target Jan. 23. His vehicle spun out after hitting a slippery spot. The collision broke off the left front wheel assembly and did significant damage to the left front corner of the vehicle. Damage was estimated at more than $3,000 for the vehicle, $245 for the fire hydrant and $500 for the tree, which was sheared off at the base.

• A manager at Little Duke's reported a vehicle had crashed into the station's ice cooler at 1:13 p.m. Jan. 23. The manager told police she heard a crash outside, looked out the window and saw a male she knew as Ruwan Peris, 38 of Hastings, backing his truck away from the coolers. The manager went to find another manager but Ruwan had left the scene when she returned. When police later contacted Ruwan, he said he was trying to park his truck but slid over the curb and into the cooler. He said he waited for the second manager and left when one couldn't be found. Damage to the cooler is estimated at $600. There was no damage to the truck.

• Ronald Rubin, 60 of Hastings, was cited for failure to yield after a crash at 10:31 a.m. Jan. 26. Rubin was attempting to turn into a driveway in the 1900 block of Walnut Street. He told police he did not see the second vehicle, which was driving northbound on Walnut and driven by Misty Corbin, 28 of Hastings. Corbin said Rubin turned in front of her and she had to leave the roadway to avoid the crash. Upon leaving the road, Corbin slid into a large tree. Neither driver was injured.

• Two vehicles collided at 1:17 p.m. Jan. 26 at the intersection of Highway 55 and Westview Drive. Margaret Hanson, 45 of Hastings, was stopped at a traffic signal when Zachary Ohmann, 19 of Inver Grove Heights, struck her vehicle from behind. Ohmann said he wasn't paying attention. No one was injured and no citations were issued.

• A 17-year-old Hastings woman was cited for failure to yield after a crash at the intersection of Vermillion and 25th streets at 4:41 p.m. Jan. 26. While attempting to make a left turn onto 25th Street, the woman pulled in front of Steven Yee, 40 of Hastings, causing a head-on collision. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

• A 17-year-old Hastings man was cited for failure to yield after a crash at the intersection of highways 61 and 316 at 5:36 p.m. Jan. 26. The man was attempting to turn his silver SUV onto Highway 316 from the left turn lane on Higway 61 and pulled in front of Jeremy Moore, 37 of Hastings. The driver of the silver SUV told police he didn't see the other vehicle. Both vehicles were towed. A stop sign at the intersection was also damaged.

• One person reported minor injuries after a crash at 6:03 p.m. Jan 26 at the intersection of County Road 47 and Pleasant Drive. Julia Jesme, 34 of Hastings, was turning left onto CR 47 from Pleasant and collided with Diane McCann, 59 of Hastings. Jesme reported she did not see McCann because another vehicle turning north from CR 47 was blocking her view. According to the report, damage indicates Jesme may have turned into the westbound lane of CR 47 instead of the eastbound lane, causing a head-on collision. No citations were issued.
