Monday, Nov. 26

• Two vehicles collided at the intersection of 15th Street and Pleasant Drive at 1:36 p.m. One driver, headed west on 15th Street, said the sun was in her eyes and she didn't think there was a stop sign. She did not stop. A passenger in the other vehicle reported injuries and was taken to the hospital. Cited for failure to stop was Martha Linkert, 65, Hastings.

• A driver reported hitting a deer with his vehicle along County Road 47 just east of Riverwood Drive. The driver was heading east and the deer jumped out in front of him, struck the vehicle, crossed the road and went north. The incident occurred at 5:47 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 29

• Two drivers were involved in a minor collision at 2:52 p.m. near the intersection of Fourth Street and General Sieben Drive. There was a lot of stop-and-go traffic due to school release. One driver said he wasn't paying attention and rear-ended the vehicle in front of him.

Saturday, Dec. 1

• A driver ended up with two flat tires after trying to avoid a collision in the 2100 block of Vermillion Street at noon. The driver was southbound when she noticed a small red car approaching from behind and weaving in and out of traffic. She veered left to avoid being hit and drove up onto the median. In doing so, the left two tires of her vehicles were flattened. She was unable to get the license plate of the red car.

• Firefighters extinguished a fire behind Gahnz Furniture. A mattress was positioned next to the building and lit on fire. As crews arrived, the side of the building was beginning to ignite. The fire didn't breach the wall but caused significant damage to the exterior. The fire was set intentionally, and is being investigated by the Hastings police and fire departments. The fire was reported at 2:59 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 2

• A single vehicle crashed at the intersection of 200th Street and Ravenna Trail at about 5:30 p.m. The vehicle was traveling south on Ravenna Trail and failed to stop at the intersection. It struck and traveled up a dirt embankment and stopped at the top, where it started on fire. A lone occupant was able to get out on her own. The vehicle was fully involved when crews arrived. One minor injury was reported.
