Hastings organizations to participate in Give to the Max Day 2017

The 2017 Give to the Max Day is slated for Thursday, Nov. 16. The day is an opportunity for Minnesotans to show their support for their favorite nonprofit organizations and schools.

Give to the Max Day is a 24-hour charitable giving competition. Donors are asked to give to their favorite Minnesota charities and the nonprofits that receive the most dollars will be awarded an extra grant from

This year's categories include large, medium, intermediate, small and colleges/universities. The top 10 leaders in each category will receive prize grants. Last year, the top five places were awarded.

Donors will have the opportunity to schedule a gift in advance to their favorite nonprofit or school. This year, gifts during the scheduled giving period, Nov. 1-15, will be transacted in real-time and count toward the organization's Give to the Max Day total.

Last year, Give to the Max Day resulted in raising more than $20 million for nonprofits and schools in Minnesota. There were 5,752 organizations that received gifts.

Several Hastings organizations will be participating in the ninth-annual Give to the Max Day including Hastings Family Service, United Way of Hastings, Hastings Breast Cancer Support Group, Hastings Public Schools Foundation, Hastings Total Lifecare Center, Hastings Prescott Area Arts Council, Hastings Educational Scholarship Program, Hastings Tennis Association, Hastings Girls Hockey Club, Hastings Show Choir Booster Association, Hastings YMCA, Girl Scouts Hastings/Prescott Service Unit, Black Dirt Theater, This Old Horse, (lumin) theater lab, Servant Road and River Valley Band.
