PHOTOS: Summer programs engage kids with fishing, birds of prey
The Carpenter Nature Center summer programs are in full swing. The Fishing Fun program and the Raptor Camp were held July 6.
The fishing adventure involved a half day of fishing fun. Children brought their own rod and reel if they had one or used a provided one. Another Fishing Fun day will be held July 19.
The Raptor Camp was a two day camp where children learned about birds of prey. The campers spent a day at CNC learning raptor basics, playing games and observing raptors in the wild on a hike. The second day involved meeting the birds at the University of Minnesota Raptor Center and learning about the process of rehabilitating an injured bird of prey.
Carpenter Nature Center will host a number of additional camps throughout the summer. For more information about the camps and to learn how to register, call 651-437-4359 or visit www.carpenternaturecenter.org.
