Music of John Denver will be highlighted April 22

"Take Me Home - the Music of John Denver" will be the highlight when Jim Curry is in concert at 7 p.m. Monday, April 22, at the Hastings Middle School auditorium, 1000 W. 11th St. The concert is the last one of the season for the Hastings Concert Association.

Curry began his music career writing and performing the opening song," "The Time of Your Life," for his senior play. The song was then voted to be the 1975 class song and he was awarded a Rotary Scholarship to study music in college. Even in this early stage, Curry's voice strongly resembled John Denver's. He continued to sing and specialize in the songs of Denver, sharing Denver's positive messages of love, humanity and environmental awareness.

Following Denver's death in 1997, a television movie had Curry singing as the off-camera voice of Denver. The experience inspired Curry to produce full-length John Denver tribute concerts. Curry is not an impersonator. He sings in his own natural voice. His looks and his voice are simply a pleasant coincidence that captures the true essence of Denver's music.

Program highlights will include "Rocky Mountain High," "Annie's Song," "Thank God I'm a Country Boy," Sunshine on My Shoulder," "Follow Me," and "Poems, Prayers and Promises."
