Drive One event raises $4,500 for Young Life

Ford Motor Company and Hastings Ford Lincoln Mercury partnered to help raise money in support of Young Life as a part of Ford's Drive One 4 UR School program.

The Hastings community put the pedals to the metal and helped raise $4,500 for Young Life by test driving a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle. Hastings Ford Lincoln Mercury worked with Young Life to host the one-day event April 23. Approximately 225 people raced down to the dealership, and for each participant who came from a unique household, Ford and Hastings Ford will donate $20.

Since the start of the program in 2007, Ford's Drive One 4 UR School program has raised more than $2.3 million for close to 700 high schools across the country and enabled more than 125,000 people to test drive new Ford vehicles. The monies raised during the Drive One events have helped fund extracurricular activities like sports and band booster clubs and Young Life, helping ensure these programs continue in local communities.

Cory Gibson, Area director for Young Life said, "A big thank you to all who came out to support Young Life. It was a blessing to see so many faces. When the community unites for a good cause, good things happen ... and this was one of those good things."

"We had an outstanding response from the community for this fundraising event. We are so thrilled that this money raised from test driving our vehicles can be used for Young Life." said Doug Erickson, Hastings Ford Lincoln Mercury.
